Core Express

Having a strong core goes way beyond rocking a killer six-pack, although as side effects go, it’s one of the best. Poor core strength not only robs you of strength, balance, and stability it can undermine the power your entire body needs to function at its peak.

Your core is the hinge that links your upper and lower body. It is central to harmonious communication between your limbs. The stronger your core is the more functional your entire body is, influencing coordination and endurance. Having a strong core allows you to stand for extended periods of time without experiencing lower back pain.

How often do you hear about people straining their backs from something as basic as vacuuming? It’s the core that stabilises the competing movements needed in the legs, arms, and torso to provide power, swivel, and agility. Regular core exercise will prevent days of pain and potential immobility.

At Authentic Health Studio, Essendon, we understand a strong core workout is fundamental to Personal Training and Semi-Private Personal Training programs

Core Muscle Group

Core diagram

The muscle groups in your torso from the abdomen, to pelvis, lower back, and hips (top of the glutes too) combine to make up the body’s core.

The goal of core strengthening exercises is to train these muscles to work in harmony for improved balance and stability, maximising power throughout the entire body. Movement either originates from the core or passes through it.

Benefits Of Core Training

The benefits of including core exercises as part of your workout fundamentally improve strength, flexibility, and equilibrium. While enhancing physical condition and self-image, the long-term benefits reduce potential lower-back injuries and the risk of falls (which unfortunately can sometimes be fatal in the elderly or lead to prolonged pain.)

Other aspects of training are compromised if the core is not engaged correctly during the activity, therefore the ab workouts at Authentic Health gym are far more comprehensive than the typical sit-up. We utilise a combination of body weight and weighted exercises to work the lower back, hips, glutes, pelvis, and abdomen, giving you identifiable results.

These are just some of the benefits of a core workout:

  • Stronger Abdominal Muscles
  • Improved Posture
  • Pain Reduction
  • Improved Power and Coordination
  • Pelvic Stabilisation
  • Enhanced Balance and Flexibility
  • Reduced Risk of Falls or Injuries
  • Confident Self-Image
  • Ease of Movement

Expect Authentic Health to engage your core using a range of movements, including but not limited to: carry variations, trunk chops, and compound lifts.

Regardless of whether you are a beginner to core workouts or a professional athlete, we meet you where you are and recommend incorporating our individualised core fitness component a minimum of 1 to 2 times per week.

Say goodbye to back pain or poor posture and hello to a tight, toned, terrific torso. Life’s Better When You’re Fit! I know it, you know it, so let’s make it happen.
